A wet week changes the play, and plenty of tent time in between games in the rain has been a fun addition.
Seated in the round, stories and songs galore fill the covered cosy space with warmth and soul. Classics like “Rain, Rain go away” and “It’s raining, it’s pouring” tour the circle of children with everyone having an opportunity to fill their name into the right gaps. Other singing and dancing games have helped us all to keep bodies moving and warm with smiles and laughter.
Adventure walks have also been good fun, with the tighter knit of the undergrowth below the canopies offering plenty of protection from the elements. Visits to the lake have helped children to solidify their understanding that rain is fun as we observe the ducks, coots, moorhens and swans enjoying themselves too.
Creativity is not thwarted either and crafting continues in the tent too with many enjoying expressive extended periods using pencils, crayons and pens to fill paper with awesome images. From splashes of colour to letter and writing practice, all are supported at the right level to push them that little bit further than they may try themselves. The shelter saves the paper from reverting to soggy pulp and children excitedly and proudly ask to get these artworks safely into bags to show off later at home.
Have a great weekend everyone. Enjoy the time together and rest well.
