Wimbledon - Junk Modelling & Investigating Mushrooms

It has been another amazing week at Wimbledon, full of fun, happiness and even some snow!

Our children have found the mixture of weather this week to be so exciting as it brings so many new opportunities to explore. We have looked at the new flowers blossoming on our meadow, the worms popping up on the wetter days and the snow-covered puddles on our colder days.

We have also been investigating the different mushrooms around our site, examining them in a safe way to try and work out which types they are. This has led to bug hunts on the meadow and looking under logs to see which creatures are living there.

This week has seen lots of activities to get everyone’s creative minds working. One of these has been using the large tarps as our canvas and covering them with different coloured paints. We have also done some junk modelling using recycled items and materials, which links to our eco-school project and our conversations about the environment. Then some of the children even made paper bunnies from the outlines of their hands!

No matter what the weather, there is always something fun and exciting to do in the forest and we look forward to seeing what the next few weeks bring with Spring heading our way!
