Wandsworth - Fun adventure walks

We’ve had another lovely week in the forest and have welcomed some more familiar faces with big hugs and smiles. The weather hasn’t dampened spirits and the children have been splashing through the puddles and listening to the thunder, suggesting that it was a giant tummy rumble and wondering what the thunder might like to eat!

The Green team have had a week full of more adventure walks. The children observed coot chicks, and signets dipping under the water with their bottoms in the air to collect algae. While on an adventure walk on a sunny afternoon, we heard a guitar strumming a few tunes and our Little Forest Folk-ers happily danced along to the music! Lots of constructions were built, including a fox den (with a dinosaur as an impromptu fox) and a castle, which we surrounded with water to create a moat. The children were busy talking about history and added a drawbridge to their castle too! Trails were also built with shuffling feet - taking them on adventures to South America and France.

The Red Team had a creative start to the week, painting a beautiful watercolour piece across a long strip of paper and chalking the logs at camp. We went on an adventure walk where we visited Grandma’s Cottage, though Grandma wasn’t at home so the children did lots of shuffling and balancing on logs instead! We’ve been seeing some brilliant role play developing with the help of PJ Masks and we had a group of children walking a ‘doggie’ to a swimming pool. There have been peaceful moments through storybooks, with children chiming in when their favourite parts pop up! Later in the week, the Red Team helped to build a protective stick-barrier for a little new shoot that had appeared in the ground.
