Beginning - as we always do - at Paradise this week, the children had tremendous fun engaging in an eclectic array of games and activities. We had some making handprints with different inks. Hopscotch being another activity that made the children giddy, darting through the numbered hoops with fun and finesse. There was also some magic afoot, with the witches and wizards concocting some strange brews and potions in their large cauldron. Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble!
We've been acclimatising to the new site. It's going well and this week allowed us to trial the site in sunshine and rain. In the good weather, the children had great fun with our manager, Jamie, as he helped them balance along the thick trunk of a tree, before hoisting them down with remarkably springy leaps! We've also expanded the camp slightly so that the children can mine away at the little clay slope that we have.
The rain came down in torrents on Wednesday, but it wasn't anything our tarps couldn't hold back. Despite the deluge, we all managed to keep warm and merry, reading stories and creating numerous cardboard butterflies and mermaids. The children also enjoyed the opportunity to have their faces painted. It wasn't long before the camp was inhabited by tigers, ladybirds and foxes!
It has been another deeply enjoyable week in the forest. We're settling into the new camp nicely and the children appear to be doing likewise. Have a great weekend everyone!
