It’s been a blustery week in the forest with the wind coming to play and the rain coming to cool the forest and children after our very hot weather last week. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time exploring how our amazing bodies move. We noticed how much more we can do from when we were babies. From crawling, to sitting up, to learning to walk, we realised how much stronger and faster we are getting as we grow.
We decided to put our bodies to the test. First, we wanted to see how fast our legs could take us across the forest. We pretended to be the wind and we flew across the meadow. Some of us sped across the forest with arms outstretched and trying to fly as fast as an aeroplane. For the next challenge, we thought we’d see how well we can balance. We hopped across the hopscotch board to see how far along the numbers we could get without falling over. In another part of the forest, our friends used their powerful muscles to lift and carry logs and planks to make a seesaw. We used our power of balance to stay sitting on the planks without sliding off.
We also explored the power of our senses. In the mud kitchen, we made an array of food with varying textures. We made watery soup that flowed through our fingers, slimy and wet mudpies and crunchy, crumbly leaf and twig cakes. We also had fun playing with our sensory box where we used our imagination and our sense of touch to guess what object is hiding in the box. The weather made for a fun sensory experience. We felt the cool rain in our faces, we walked towards the blustery wind to see how strong we are, we listened to the cacophony the trees made as they shook and how loud the thunder boomed in the distance and noticed the colours of a rainy day.
We really enjoyed testing out our abilities and realised to keep growing, we need to take very good care of our bodies. We ate nutritious fruits and vegetables and drank lots of water to keep ourselves hydrated. When we felt tired, we took solace under a cosy den to read a book or to have a chat and let our bodies quiet down.
It’s been a wiggly, jiggly, hopping, zooming week in the forest and we’ll be back with more stories of our adventures. Until next time!
