Although the week was a bit windy, it did not cut into all the fun had by children and educators!
Our Little Forest Folk-ers ventured into the forest this week with their white t-shirts in hand, ready to get their tie-dye on. After discussing wet vs. dry, hypothesising what will happen to the fabric and making patterns, they cracked on and dyed their very own tops. The groovy looking clothes were so popular and have been requested for the following weeks to come.
Sending notes to loved ones was also very popular this week. The children gathered post cards and wrote sweet messages to their families. Once their post cards were filled out, the children posted them in our very own post box.
With the wind working against us, the little ones explored the meadow near the camp. This was very exciting for all as the meadow offered new opportunities for play and discovery - the major find of the day was the many rabbit burrows throughout the field. The children were transformed into sleeping bunnies and the song was sung on repeat.
Before heading back indoors, the children went on a litter hunt. With litter-pickers in hand, each child scoured the meadow for rubbish. After placing any collected litter in the bin bag, the children discussed better ways to dispose of garbage. Putney Heath is very grateful to its tiny eco warriors!
With falling branches and harsh gusts, our adventurers spent an afternoon creating and engaging in all the fun things the indoor site had to offer. Following on from the previous wet and dry experiment with the tie-dye, the children cooked up their very own playdough. Using the playdough, they all then had a wonderful time whipping up cakes, biscuits and other delicious treats.
Fingers crossed for a less windy week ahead. The team at Putney Heath wish everyone a happy and joyful weekend!
