What a spectacular week we have had. The weather has been glorious and the children have delighted in the budding leaves and spring flowers.
Our Little Forest Folk-ers have enjoyed creating their own super hero masks and during the creative process they chose their own super hero names and discussed what their super powers were going to be. Flight was a popular choice as they flew about the forest and we had a superheroes’ headquarters located amongst the bushes and a tall cardboard skyscraper with windows they could peek through.
We enjoyed a glorious day of planting bulbs in our flower boxes as our Little Forest Folk-ers crumbled the soil between their fingers and scooped the soil out of the sack with our hands and small spades. Tiny hands created small holes in the soil for the bulbs to sit in as we learnt which way up to plant them, before sprinkling soil over the bulbs to bed them in.
The difficulty of the obstacle course was increased this week by our tiny architects with hanging tyres and low-lying tunnels as the children had to crawl through and crawl over and under various items as well as balance along the narrow beams. This was called the superhero training course as our pint-sized heroes challenged their physical skills.
We were kindly given a large ball of frog spawn this week by one of our lovely parents and we all engaged in preparing a tank for them using river water, rocks and plants to aerate the aquatic environment. We plopped the eggs carefully into the tank and now we wait. All the children are very invested in the eggs and are eager to see them hatch and grow.
Another wonderful week, have a great weekend everyone!
