Twickenham - Sensory Week

This week we’ve had lots of sensory fun!

Our week started with a sensory walkway where our little adventurers were encouraged to take off their shoes and step into boxes containing a whole host of wonderful textures: leaves, water and sand to name a few. They loved kicking off their wellies and feeling the sand between their toes.

We got artistic this week, whilst listening to a beautiful soundscape we got to work on a huge canvas where we used big rollers to create a masterpiece. The music soon led to us making our own forest school band, rocking out on a tin drum kit with sticks, stomping our feet and dancing around with colourful scarves.

Towards the end of the week, we decided to concentrate on mindfulness, we had some quiet cloud watching where our Little Forest Folk-ers studied the sky and then created their own clouds over at the craft table. In the afternoon, we all sat on our huge parachute playing sleeping bunnies and having some well-deserved chill and chat time.

Friday was reserved for yoga, we loved moving our bodies and getting ourselves into all sorts of shapes and following along with the educators.

It’s been a week full of joy and engaging all our senses, hearing the music, touching the sand, watching the clouds, smelling the flowers and tasting some delicious homemade lemonade for Friday cooking!

See you all next week.
