Twickenham - "Room on the Broom"

As the last of our autumn leaves fall, the temperatures have cooled off and our inspection of frost on the crunchy leaves and the small disks of frozen water in our mud kitchen pots and pans have delighted our intrepid explorers.

The heavy rains and winds of the weekend have gifted us with a plethora of sticks from the trees and we have leapt at the chance to make wands, potion stirring sticks and drum sticks to beat out rhythms to dance to. Some of our larger sticks became broomsticks as the witch from “Room on the broom” zoomed around the forest!

The Polar Express roared through the forest and across our tuff tray as the trains huffed and puffed around through the cornflour snow. Tickets were sold for varying ages and the children enjoyed retelling the story and added their own twists and tales as Thomas the Tank Engine joined the locomotive story.

Mountains to hide under, bugs to search for, birds to spy with our colourful boomwackers used as binoculars and seeds to collect, have taken up all of our enquiring minds as stories are read of trolls and kindness and songs of winter ring around our setting.
