This week, the children's exploration of occupations continued with a special focus on transportation. Their fascination with cars and travel led to an engaging activity where they experienced going through airport security. The children packed their suitcases and embarked on imaginary journeys to various destinations. They eagerly participated in having their bags checked to ensure they were safe for travel. This activity introduced them to new vocabulary words like "travelator," "escalator," and "detectors," which they used and inquired about with curiosity. The role of security officers was enthusiastically adopted as they monitored the buzzing and beeping of suitcases.
We also celebrated a joyful birthday for one of our boys. As we sang "Happy Birthday" by Stevie Wonder, we enjoyed munching on watermelon, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The superhero station was a major hit this week. The Den became a hub of activity as children transformed into their favourite superheroes. They crafted masks, helmets, and cuffs to complete their superhero personas, immersing themselves in imaginative play.
A generous parent donated new pans to the mud kitchen, sparking excitement among the children. They took advantage of the rain to collect water and create muddy mixtures. Engaging in this activity, the little master chefs carefully poured water, mixed ingredients, and measured as they followed their "recipes," resulting in a flurry of scooping and splatting.
The meadow was busy, as Heatham House hosted music, pizza, and a climbing wall for their school children. Our Little Forest Folk watched in awe, captivated by the vibrant scene. The enticing smell of pizza filled the air as music played, prompting children to dance to songs from Moana, Frozen, and even Mamma Mia. They held hands, spun around, laughed, and sang their favourite tunes with joy.
It was a sweet and memorable week. See you all again soon!
