Twickenham - Colour Crazy

We are now well and truly into the summer holiday; the weather is still holding out and our group has been welcoming new friends and familiar faces from the past. You may have noticed some children wearing blue hi-viz jackets, these are our holiday campers. This scheme gives us the opportunity to catch up with LFF ‘graduates’ and find out how they are getting on at ‘big school.’ It also gives the children about to leave a chance to quiz them on what they are on the verge of encountering. At the opposite end of the spectrum, it is that time of year when some children are beginning their forest journey (you might spot them wearing pink or yellow hi-viz jackets). We are lucky to have such a welcoming group and so far, all the new starters have settled in quickly.

We continue to offer exciting learning opportunities for our remaining foxes (in the orange hi-viz jackets). This week we have enjoyed recreating a science experiment involving an exploding volcano! We have also been splashing through the river on a mission to collect up all the hidden blackberries. You may have seen from some of the snaps that this activity got quite messy; by the end of the day, we were left with a few purple children!

On Wednesday our forest theatre held a performance of ‘The three little pigs.’ By all accounts this show went down a storm and critics gave it five-star reviews. Particularly impressive were the wonderful masks made for the three pigs and the wolf. Keeping with the colour theme staff have been helping children to create geometric patterns using our colourful wooden shapes. We discussed what geometric patterns were and noted the differences between 2D and 3D shapes.

Have a colourful weekend!

See you all next week!
