Twickenham - Air Twickenham and River Walks!

We have had a wonderful week of glorious weather, which has allowed us to go on many river walks, splashing through the shallows and picking large juicy blackberries that no one else can reach.

We have been immersed in painting, drawing, climbing and telling jokes this week and our children are developing their own senses of humour and understanding the format of jokes. We have had some wonderful attempts at telling a joke each, some were very funny, and others were hilarious, and the children found the simple jokes the educators told very entertaining too.

We were delighted one day to find trays of ice laid out to play with, it was a lovely way to keep our hands cool. Our educators had secretly frozen small things into the ice blocks and, armed with small wooden mallets, we tapped and cracked the ice open to release the contents within: A,B,C’s, small silk flowers, and coloured shapes and stones were all discovered as the ice cracked open.

One of our educators built an amazing 4-seater aeroplane out of cardboard and crates one day. It had windows, seating, a suitcase carousel, and we could climb inside and fly off on holiday. Our Little Forest Folk-ers all took turns at piloting the plane and some were stewards offering “fish or chicken?” and others were passengers sitting by the windows and heading off to other countries.

The short burst of rain midweek was refreshing and cooled off the forest a little, but best of all it brought the bugs, slugs, snails and ladybirds out of their hiding places. Armed with magnifying glasses we went on a bug safari and found all manner of insects, we also found ladybird larvae, which surprised all the children as these little bugs look so different when compared to adult ladybirds!

Thank you all for coming to the forest, we hope you have a lovely weekend!
