This week, our theme was 'Stories,' and we embarked on a magical journey through some of our favourite books, bringing a world of literary wonder to life in our forest.
The children delighted in stepping into different stories, transforming our surroundings into immersive experiences. We began with "We're Going on a Bear Hunt," where our little explorers had a sensory adventure, feeling the textures of swishy swashy grass, squidgy mud, a flowing river, and a dark cave under their bare feet. They recreated the story using spoons and props, setting off on their very own bear hunts through the forest.
In our "Giraffes Can't Dance" area, the children adorned themselves with animal print fabric and joyfully role-played as the various animals in the book. They danced and celebrated the message that everyone can find their own rhythm and dance to their own beat.
We also explored the vibrant world of "The Smeds and the Smoos," where the children used loose parts and wooden blocks to act out the story. They brought the tale to life, integrating it into their play and reinforcing themes of friendship and understanding.
Our "Gruffalo" section was filled with excitement as the children created their very own Gruffalo monsters. Using soft toys, they acted out the story, embracing their imaginations and having fun with this beloved classic.
It has been a wonderful week filled with creativity, imagination, and the joy of storytelling. The children fully embraced each narrative, turning our forest into a living storybook.
We look forward to more adventures and stories next week. Have a fantastic weekend!
