Twickenham - A New Ice Age

Hello everyone,

Phew what a scorcher! Luckily, we are blessed with such a wonderful environment to cope with extreme heat. We have been stowed right at the back of the forest (the foxes area), where there are plenty of shaded spots and cosy corners.

This week we have done lots of water play in order to keep cool! On Monday, Celine had the brilliant idea to freeze some dinosaurs in water (a new ice age) and on Tuesday the children had so much fun trying to free them. Eventually they resorted to using the mallet and the sound of breaking ice echoed through the forest. Later we collected some flowers, stones, and sticks to freeze and this created some beautiful blocks to place in the tuff tray the following day. Keeping with the water theme we have enjoyed using water paints to create some summer-y images and to practice writing our names. Despite being fairly shallow at the moment we also departed for another riverwalk on Monday and the children were fascinated by all the random objects we discovered (even half a sink!). After such a busy week, Miranda has ensured we have stayed refreshed with some yummy and freezing cold ice-pops! Thanks Miranda!

As well as all this fun in the sun, Wednesday involved a special visit from an old friend, Libby. Everyone was so pleased to see her again and to find out how well things were going for her at Chiswick. We look forward to seeing Libby again back in Twickenham Forest!

Have a great weekend and keep cool!
