Twickenham - A Ginormous Obstacle Course

This week, the children worked together on a number of activities, instilling confidence in teamwork and collaboration. Tasks were based around working together to find a solution and complete projects together.

At the start of the week the swing circle transformed into a ginormous obstacle course. Children were twisting, turning, balancing and jumping throughout the forest floor. Some stepped with patience and precision, others gathered up steam and 3,2,1 leapt across the crates with glee. Many voices filled the forest announcing “safety check please” as children swayed and wobbled, manoeuvring their objects in order to make them safe.  Planks of wood became seesaws, crates became towers and tires a place to rest their legs, tired from their long adventure.

Fingers got busy in sticky, colourful playdough. The children spoke about each colour and how they mixed to make another.  We rolled, chopped and squished the playdough with our fingers. Fascinated with food, playdough was shaped into “sausages, ice creams and even bacon and eggs. It must be summer, with the craving for “ice cream”, the children raced to the mud kitchen to make chocolate, vanilla and even bubblegum flavoured ice cream!  On top were layers of cream, marshmallows and hundreds and thousands of sprinkles.

As the end of term approaches, we say goodbye to some of our Little Forest Folk-ers as they get ready for ‘big school.” A bittersweet feeling to wish them well, all the while sad that they grow up so fast.  We have been cherishing every moment, making those everlasting memories hugs, tears and all. With feelings of pride and appreciation to be able to foster these experiences and support them in their journey of education. Speaking of journeys, next week we say goodbye to one of our sensational lead educators, Louise, who has been with some of these children from the day they entered the forest, until the time they leave.

We are all so proud of your achievements this week. Well done to our Little Forest Folk-ers! See you all next week.
