This week, our theme has been 'growing,' and we've been exploring nature, lifecycles, metamorphosis and how bodies change. It's been a wonderful journey of discovery and creativity, with a variety of activities that captured the children's imaginations and enthusiasm.
Our young gardeners have been busy making plant bombs, encasing seeds in clay holders to break and plant beautiful wildflowers. This hands-on activity allowed the children to learn about seed dispersal and the importance of wildflowers in our ecosystem. Additionally, we crafted our very own printed butterflies using paint and other craft materials, creating colourful representations of these beautiful insects.
In our newly titled 'Mr. McGregor's Mud Kitchen,' the children have been tending to their crops of carrots, potatoes, cabbages, green beans, and more! They enjoyed the responsibility of taking care of their garden and watching their plants grow.
During free play, our creative adventurers built farms out of recycled materials, making homes for all the animals. This activity fostered teamwork, imagination, and an understanding of sustainability.
In our body zone, the children practised nappy changing on their teddies and learned about growing up. Discussions included transitioning from nappies to potties and toilets and what to expect from big school. This was a great way to help the children understand the changes they will experience as they grow.
The warm and sunny weather has been perfect for growing plants and enjoying nature. We've taken full advantage of the lovely conditions to engage in outdoor activities and appreciate the beauty of the forest.
Thank you for another fantastic week in the forest. Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to more exciting adventures next week!
