Welcome back!
We started off the new year with some wonderful weather, perfect for jumping in muddy puddles and catching raindrops from our tarps. The children and educators were all so excited to get back into the forest and explore what changes had happened in our forest over the Christmas period.
The children started the week flying off in their amazing rocket ship, flying around and onto the moon. We had great fun talking about different planets and the children discussed which planet they were visiting next. As the week continued, we had some special birthdays to celebrate in the forest. We sang happy birthday four times to celebrate our friends and educators who had their birthdays this week and over the holidays. The children made some cakes in the mud kitchen and made candles for the children to blow out.
Further into the week, we enjoyed some fantastically frosty weather and the children enjoyed looking at the frost that had gathered on the leaves and grass on the cricket pitch. We were lucky enough to have some icy puddles on the cricket pitch and the children worked together to break the ice and splash in the water underneath.
On top of all the wonderful weather changes, the children have enjoyed swinging from the trees on our swing, trying to swing themselves up to the treetops. Some of our children built a fierce pirate ship and sailed across the seas to find treasure and bring it back to camp.
We have had a fantastic first week back here at Putney Heath and we hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
