We ended last week with some fantastic musical magic, with the children singing some of their favourite nursery rhymes and learning some new songs! The children explored the musical instruments and practised playing loudly, quietly, slowly, and quickly.
Heading into the new week we were all filled with so much excitement as it marked the start of our parent stay and play sessions. The children were eager to show the parents our magical forest and could not wait to show them some of the activities we get up to in the forest. The parents got stuck right in, making some amazing clay creations alongside their children and the children were sure to show them how they can use the natural resources around them to decorate their models.
Further into the week we welcomed more parents into the forest and the children were quick to show off their amazing balancing skills on the slippery slack-line. The children lined up on the slack-line and all jumped at the same time to see how high they could bounce. We also embarked on a brilliant bug hunt, using magnifying glasses, glass pots and our identification sheets. The parents helped us to find millipedes, worms, spiders and woodlice and the children were so excited to tick off what they had found on our identification sheets.
Flying further into the week on our zip line, the children experimented with different ways they could sit and hold onto it. The children pushed each other so they could zip faster down the line and they all took turns wonderfully, remembering to stay behind the safety line whilst waiting to go on! Some of the parents wanted a turn but the children were quick to tell them that they were just too big to have a turn on this zip line!!
Towards the end of the week, we again welcomed more wonderful parents into the forest, and we all engaged in a creative activity. Following on from our bug hunt, we wanted to create our own bug headbands with antennas. The children added pipe cleaners, pom poms and googly eyes to a cardboard band and they enjoyed pretending to be bugs scuttering around the forest.
We have had the most amazing week, and we have loved welcoming each and every parent into the forest with us. We cannot wait for more adventures next week. Have a lovely long weekend all!
