We’ve had lots of paper rolled out along the gazebo for the children to get creative, and we experimented with using different types of stamps one morning! The children chose which colours they were going to mix and swirl, and carefully placed their stamps along the paper to make a full picture, “This flower is growing out of the wheel barrow! It’s ready to plant in the garden!”. After a little while, the children wanted to experiment with using different materials, like leaves and small world toys, making ‘footprints’ along the paper, “There are footprints on the garden path!”. It was so lovely to see the children build this cool little world of theirs on paper!
Our mud kitchen is always one of our favourite areas in the forest! This time we brought out some extra resources to our mud kitchen to have a tea party! The children practised their control of holding the heavy kettle full of water (cold for the safety of their little hands!) and took turns pouring the water for their friends in the cups. We started looking at the side of the kettle to measure how much water was in there and used our number recognition skills to measure the water for the cups!
The children have made a lovely home in the house at the front of the forest! We love to get a beaker of water and dip paint brushes and ‘paint the house’, changing the colour of the wood, and cleaning the chalk mark from the black board walls. The children have been inviting each other in for “dinner”, bringing over bowls and pots of sand decorated with sticks and leaves, “Pasta is ready!”, “I have sprinkled cheese on top!”.
Our super star educator Jade is full of amazing animal knowledge! So, we’ve started focusing on different animals each week, talking about where they live, what they eat, and other cool things about them! This week we have been talking about Penguins! There was a fun penguin search around the forest, looking for cut outs of the 18 different species of penguin, and we made one of our big forest posters with facts about penguins, and places for the children to draw where different penguins live and what they eat! We can’t wait to introduce more animal themed activities into our week!
We hope you all have a wonderful long bank holiday weekend!
