Our highlight was a science activity where the children experimented with milk, food colouring and soap. They observed the magical changes as the colours mixed and spread through the milk, witnessing firsthand the fascinating principles of colour theory. This experiment tied into our ongoing theme of superheroes and the zones of regulation. Each colour was associated with different emotions, sparking meaningful discussions about how we feel and why. This focus on emotions and self-awareness was woven throughout our week, helping the children understand and articulate their feelings.
The mud kitchen was a bustling hub of activity, especially with our thriving tippy tap made from recycled milk cartons. The children engaged in controlled water play, tackling the challenge of how best to get the water out. Through problem-solving and collaboration, they used various mud kitchen tools to create imaginative recipes, honing their practical skills and teamwork.
Embracing moments of calm, we listened to the soothing sounds of the forest on our adventure walks. The children used natural materials to build bird nests and found solace in the shade of conker trees. We also incorporated yoga into our routine, using yoga cards to practise different stances, fostering mindfulness and physical balance.
The magnet tiles were a huge hit once again. Our adventurers rose to the challenge, building magnificent structures, rockets, and homes for animals and puppets. Their creativity and engineering skills were on full display as they constructed these impressive works.
It has been a week filled with exploration, learning, and emotional growth. We hope you all have a fantastic weekend, and we look forward to more adventures next week!
