This week has been filled with sunshine, warmth, and joyful exploration as we continued with our ‘All About Me’ theme. The children have embraced every moment, diving deeper into their individuality and celebrating what makes them unique.
We kicked off the week with a magical board game, where flower-shaped counters helped the children practise their counting skills. Each stop on the board led to fun conversations about their favourite toys, animals, and parts of the forest. It was a beautiful opportunity for everyone to share a little more about themselves and strengthen connections with their peers.
Our creativity bloomed as we used our natural surroundings to craft leaf faces. Different leaves represented different eye colours, nose shapes, and smiles, and the children spent dedicated time searching for the perfect leaves to create their unique portraits. It was wonderful to see them fully engaged with the forest while expressing their individuality through this activity.
In another exciting project, we created our own resumes! The children drew self-portraits and spoke about their ages, skills, and personality traits, reflecting on their strengths and what they aspire to in the future. This activity was not only a fun way to get creative but also provided an excellent opportunity to practise letter formation and mark-making skills.
Our team has also been hard at work on our Zones of Regulation board, which the children helped create using scrap fabric. After reading The Colour Monster, we discussed different emotions and reflected on how we were feeling. This board will become a daily part of our routine, providing the children with a valuable way to check in with their emotions and build emotional literacy.
It has been a completely wonderful week in the forest, filled with creativity, learning, and connection. We are so proud of how our adventurers continue to grow and support one another in our nurturing environment.
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!
