We have had a fantastic week here at Putney Heath, full of so many exciting activities and adventures. We have many exciting things to share, but we wanted to share some of our fantastic highlights.
Our Little Forest Folk-ers showed off their fantastic physical skills this week, with some super awesome climbing. The children enjoyed challenging themselves to climb up and through the big rope spider web we had on camp and held on tight as they swung through the trees. The spider web was not only a fantastic climbing frame, but it also doubled up as an effective shark net during our pirate ship adventure!
Later in the week we had a very exciting flower activity! Our explorers had the chance to create some wonderful flower prints, using flowers, some paper and a mallet. First, they picked their favourite flowers from the pot and then placed them between a folded piece of paper. Then the fun began! The children carefully took the mallet and hit the paper several times. It was then time for the big reveal… everyone opened the papers up to reveal the most beautiful flower prints that they were all really proud of.
Caterpillars have been a big interest amongst the children this week and they have been spotted crawling and hanging all over camp. The children have been excellent at remembering our caterpillar rules; if it is hairy, it’s scary and if it is smooth, let it move. We have been observing the way the caterpillars move and talking about the life cycle of a caterpillar. Hopefully soon we will be able to see a few more butterflies flying around camp.
We have had a wonderful week here at Putney Heath and we hope you all have a restful weekend :)
