We have had a terrific time in the forest this week!
Our bug hunting, insect identifying and mini monster surprises have kept us all on our toes. We found a humongous orange slug about 10cm long which was fatter than an educator’s thumb! We also discovered a tiny brown caterpillar who crept along a stick in classic inch worm style, later on our investigations told us it was a cankerworm which in turn will eventually turn into a moth! We also saw 3 or 4 different types of butterflies flitting in and out of the dappled sunshine forest area.
We’ve all really enjoyed reading our favourite books, listening to each other’s made up stories, studying maps and making flags.
Over in the creative area, we’ve also been making small mint-filled sensory pouches, challenging our tiny fingers to tie knots and create necklaces, bracelets and backpack dangles. Mmm, they smell a little bit like toothpaste.
As well as all of this, our Little Forest Folk-ers have enjoyed running like dinosaurs, leaping like ninjas, swinging between the trees, climbing on huge rope webs, balancing on obstacle courses and testing our strength and mobility around our site. We have as you see, been very busy!
