Festive, creative and having fun!
It’s been a magical few days in the forest filled with Christmas stories, singing and crafts.
The children have continued using a hammer and nails to make wooden tree cookie decorations with colourful wool showing great skill and dexterity! They have also been painting Christmas cards and pine cones to hang on the Christmas tree. One morning they inventively recycled toilet roll tubes to make reindeer by threading sticks and pipe cleaners into holes they made with a pen.
This week the children have also been getting very creative with natural materials that they found around base-camp. One morning they built a fairy village using sticks to make a dragon and a train track. They also used logs, pretending their favourite ones were their donkeys which they took care of and fed delicious food.
One of the children began talking about some arctic animals they knew and this inspired us all to find out some facts about them. In the middle of the week we were excited to see a little hint of arctic weather and we all enjoyed cracking ice in the puddles and walking across the frosty grass. The children got up close to study the crystals in great detail as the light bounced off them in different directions.
We have had a swing up in our camp this week and it has been wonderful to see the children becoming braver on it asking to try and go higher than Santa’s sleigh!
We hope that everyone enjoys a wonderful festive break and we look forward to welcoming you all back in 2022!
