Merry Christmas from your Little Forest Folk-ers!!
We’ve definitely squeezed all the fun from our last week of term, jumping into lots of lovely Christmas activities and adventures and getting very excited for the big day!!
One of our favourite arty activities this week has been making some Christmas ornaments from pinecones. The children added lots of colourful paints and string to take home. Using their fine motor skills and creative eye came naturally to them - they really loved the process of creating them and showing them to their friends!
We had a fabulous time exploring Cannon Hill Common this week - the children joined us for an activity focused on our maths intent, as they collected ‘spotty things and spikey things’ from our walk! Our little explorers really enjoyed talking about the different patterns they were finding and bringing them back to the forest to craft with. Later in the adventure walk, the children found some ‘reindeer horns’ and worked together to pull Santa’s sleigh! It was so lovely to see them work together to build their child-led play!
This week we say goodbye to our wonderful Charlotte. The new Little Forest Folk Winkworth Nursery is so lucky to have her, and I’m sure you’ll join us in wishing her the best of luck in her new adventure!
Lastly, we had a lovely time making some good old fashioned Christmas cards with paint, glitter, and anything else the children wanted to add! We made tree shapes, Christmas stars, and practiced our early writing skills too. So much fun!!
Thank you to everyone and we hope you have a very lovely holiday season; however you celebrate!
