Morden - The Lost Winter Tree & Our Little Mushroom Babies!

Happy Friday everyone!

We have had so much fun this week in the forest, learning about all the brilliant life cycles of creatures and plants we share our forest with.

We are so lucky we get to see and investigate lots of mushrooms within our forest which the children are always thrilled about, so it was no surprise that a firm favourite life cycle we looked at was mushrooms. Our adventurers got to help set up a gourmet mushroom grow kit where, alongside Charlotte and Robyn, they cut open the bag of pre-spawn mushroom substrate with mushroom mycelium. They then soaked the bag in a bucket of water overnight to start the growing process. The children have been keeping a close eye on them each day to make sure they are growing properly.

Another amazing activity this week was called “the lost winter tree”. The children got to help the tree go through all the seasons of the year. Using lots of different paints and materials to change the colours of the leaves, our adventurers loved talking about the summer season and adding on fruit to our winter tree.

So much was learnt and shared this week and we are so happy we got to share it all with our lovely holiday campers!

We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to next week.
