Morden - Moss, Sticks and Mud!

We’ve had such an amazing week in the forest this October half term! It’s been action-packed with lots of bulb planting for spring and plenty of adventure walks and spooky delights as we geared up for Halloween on Thursday!

Charlotte, Lucia and Su took the kids on an amazing adventure walk where they played an awesome game of Ghostbusters! In line with our developmental goal of encouraging our Little Forest Folk-ers to dress themselves independently the children took it in turns to wear a ghost sheet and then hide somewhere on the common. The rest of the children then crouched and sang the ghostbusters theme tune. When they were finished, they had to listen out for the ghostly sounds of the child hiding and then go and find them! The kids loved this as well as a quick visit to the ducks to feed them some pumpkin seeds.

On Wednesday Sarah, Joe and Migs took our little adventurers up to the Common on the hunt for moss, sticks and mud to collect so that we can make our own terrarium. The children had so much energy and they loved searching for these natural materials, working together as a team to collect as much as possible.

On Thursday Kitz and Lucia painted our little adventurers’ faces and the children loved celebrating Halloween by getting into character in this way. We also enjoyed some pumpkin carving and, in the afternoon, Migs, Kitz and Charlotte took everyone out for their final adventure walk of the week. We played lots of games, including a game of hide and seek in two different teams where everybody got an item of clothing so that each child on the team that was hiding could take it in turns to leave their item on the floor to create a trail for the other team to follow.

What a wonderful week, we everyone has a fab weekend!
