This week has been a whirlwind of creativity, culture, and costumes as we celebrated both Halloween and Diwali while exploring our ‘vocations’ theme. With dress-up days in full swing, the forest was alive with stormtroopers, tigers, pumpkins, ghosts, fairies, pirates, and aliens—bringing a magical energy to our woodland adventures!
We kicked off with a focus on firefighters, learning about the vital role they play in our communities. Our adventurers slid down fire poles, simulated putting out blazes, and discussed how firefighters work together to keep everyone safe. This active role-play was a great opportunity to practise teamwork and communication skills!
In our Forest Fancy Dress Shop, the children transformed into shopkeepers, styling each other with capes, cat costumes, butterfly wings, and anything else they could find to complete their imaginative ensembles. The excitement continued in the Events Control Centre, where little event planners prepped Halloween parties, managed catering lists, and coordinated costumes. Using "computers" in our events office, the children enjoyed role-playing, organising, and even tricking their teachers with their creative “bookings!”
As Diwali approached, we explored traditional customs by creating natural Rangoli designs with vibrant leaves. Each child arranged leaves in colourful patterns, creating beautiful, nature-inspired art. To welcome the light of Diwali, we crafted clay Diyas to hold tea lights, decorating them with glitter and beads to add a bit of sparkle and light to the forest.
We have loved watching the children’s curiosity bloom as they learned about different cultures and vocations, all while celebrating Halloween in the forest. Thank you for making it a memorable week, and we wish you all a joyful Diwali and a spooky Halloween weekend!
