Morden - Making New Friends!

We’ve been celebrating a lot of change in the forest this week. Autumn is in the air and we have so many new adventurers who we’ve been getting to know. There have been lots of smiles and giggles this week. This time of year is magical because we make so many new friends and it’s really heart warming to see our new little ones start to build those positive relationships with all our forest educators.

This week we’ve been carrying on our emotional regulation focus to encourage all our children in talking about and navigating those big feelings. This has been a lovely chance to introduce our new hammock for some relaxing sky gazing. The children have really enjoyed taking it in turns to have a lie down, sometimes inviting their friends to have a cosy chat with them at the same time.

We’ve also absolutely loved exploring our emotions through colours with lots of sensory painting. The adventurers got involved in a wonderful activity in the environment making their own soothing stones. They chose some of their favourite colours to make a stone that would bring them lots of calm, green feelings.

On another afternoon we explored our emotions through parachute games. Our lovely educator Caitlin told stories to the Little Forest Folk-ers and asked them how it made them feel. They then ran to the colour on the parachute that represented that feeling.

Developing this emotional language is so important and we’re really proud of the openness and kindness the little adventurers have shown in our community this week. This is what makes the forest such a special place!
