What a whirlwind week it’s been! With brisk air and sunshine, we spent a couple of days camped out on the cricket pitch, soaking up the rays and enjoying the outdoors.
Our theme this week was ‘All About Me,’ where we explored what makes each of us unique and special.
We began by tracing our hands, filling each finger with personal details like our favourite animals, foods, colours, toys, and stories. The children enjoyed expressing themselves through this craft, adding creative touches to showcase their individual personalities.
Our creativity soared as we made our own personalised story booklets, threading ribbons through the pages to bring them to life. Some children recreated their favourite stories, while others invented new ones. Each booklet was a wonderful reflection of the child’s imagination and uniqueness.
We also focused on affirmations—discussing big, positive words like "adventurous" and "generous" to describe ourselves. In a circle, with the support of our educators, each child received their very own affirmation card, helping them build confidence and celebrate their individuality. It was a powerful activity that will continue at home as they practise these affirmations.
To cap off our week, we crafted self-portraits using a mix of craft and natural materials. The children practised their cutting skills, chopping different coloured paper for their hair, adding googly eyes, and learning about the different features that make up a face. We discussed how everyone’s combination of features makes them unique, which sparked wonderful conversations about what makes each of us special.
On top of all this, the children had a blast with physical games using beanbags. From inventing their own games like "Capture the Beanbag" and "How High Can You Throw," to challenges like "Score a Goal Against an Educator," our little explorers led the way, experimenting with hand-eye coordination and teamwork.
Thank you all for an amazing week of fun, learning, and self-discovery! Have a wonderful weekend!
