This week in our Morden forest, the children have been trying their hand with a drilling activity! The children have been using our adventure walks to find conkers around the forest space and bringing them back for lots of different uses! Vicky led a great activity where the children would drill a hole through each one, and thread a piece of twine through to make a beautiful autumnal decoration for our nursery. This inspired the children to think of other ways to use these materials, and they began to make necklaces to bring home as well. The children have been wearing their forest jewellery very proudly, and we can’t wait to see all the other cool things we can make with these skills!
Construction has been another big theme this week, as the children use the different resources around the forest to make bug homes and drive their imaginary play to make 'castles for the king!' They balance the cups and blocks carefully, building them taller and taller with practice and patience. It's wonderful to see these skills grow in them, as they enjoy the building process even more than the end result!!
