A hot and sizzly week in the forest! We’ve welcomed back some missed faces and some new ones! It’s been fantastic to see new friendships develop and interests unfold!
We have continued to enjoy our water wall as the hot weather has encouraged water play! We have filled a trough full of water which has been poured, sprayed, mixed and used to wet soil and sand to create cakes and pies! This has also driven our adventurers to fill watering cans and “give plants a drink!” We have planted some new greenery around our pond including violas! These are going to develop near our pond and eventually be transferred to the driveway. These have needed extra love to grow! We have noticed the ‘dry, dusty’ soil and enjoyed watching it soak up and drink the water. Our next activity should be planting and growing some lavender to keep next to our pond! We wonder what wildlife this could attract.
Vicky led a sensory story where the explorers imagined arriving to different worlds! We soared as bees and tasted some honey! We ventured through stormy and tropical rainforests where we met Ronnie with our garden hose! Many loved running under the spray pretending to be caught in a shower! Some even stood under and let the water soak them to cool from the hot weather! As we arrived back to our world we gathered for some cool drinks.
We have also enjoyed the sensory aspect of painting! We have had the opportunity to use many materials and tools to create splashes, strokes and dots! We have had canvases taped like walls along our gazebo where we can encourage big whole body movements as we create shapes and splashes! We have also created our own pictures using our fingers and hands to print. It’s always intriguing experimenting and becoming familiar with colour. We have mixed and identified a huge range of colours in the forest this week. “I made purple!” “This yellow circle!”
Have a lovely restful weekend and we shall see you next week for more adventure!
