Morden - 'Flowers are important to keep our forest!'

Happy Friday everyone!

It’s been a sunnier week this week! The children have been enjoying spotting the crocuses growing behind the rainbow ribbons!

The adventurers have loved exploring the jungle path! The roots, vines and growing plants have intrigued the children who have been asking where the plants come from! This has been a great conversation starter for talking about seasons and what is necessary for plants to grow! ‘Sunshine!’ ‘Water!’ We have been counting the flowers! Talking about why we shouldn’t pick the flowers! ‘Flowers are important to keep our forest!’ ‘Flowers feed butterflies and bees!’ 🐝

We made Valentines cookies using breadsticks and icing which adventurers broke into sections and created shapes with. The intent was to create heart shapes but some decided to make their mummies or houses! The icing was used to glue their parts together and they were decorated with sprinkles! ‘I’m giving mine to my mummy!’ ‘Hearts are red.’ ‘This is sticky.’ ‘Mix more water in here.’ Everyone came together to make their own icing by adding the powder, water and colouring and mixing thoroughly. Once they had created their shapes, they used sprinkles to decorate! ❤️

We were lucky enough to have Joe join us in the forest later in the week, which has encouraged us all to get up dancing and create music! We have been singing songs; ‘You're welcome!’ ‘Old MacDonald had a farm!’ Watching Joe singing and playing guitar has delighted all of our Little Forest Folk-ers!

We look forward to the sun setting later and rising earlier! See you next week when we will welcome some holiday campers too!
