Some of our lovely children finished with us last week and gave us some flowers as a thank you. We had them beautifully decorating our office for a while but then decided we should share their beauty with the children and use them for a variety of activities. At the start of the week we were making cards using glue and flowers. Some of the children chose to keep the flowers whole, while others enjoyed breaking the flowers up and sprinkling the petals. At the end of the week we decided to make flower impressions using clay. To do this the children rolled out a small circle of clay and then pressed the flowers into it. We then put the clay aside to dry out.
Our forest has also been full of musical sounds from all around us. Our educators decorated the forest using twine and musical instruments and suspended a variety of instruments around the forest, including above us in the trees. This led to children exploring the sounds in a group and also led to some spontaneous play such as children swinging the instruments back and forth to each other.
A lovely creative week in the forest!
