Morden - Firework Magic!

As the weather gets colder here in the forest, our little adventurers have been developing their independence! The team has been focused on helping our little ones hone their fine and gross motor skills to master those tricky elements of dressing and undressing. On Monday, we ventured into Cannon Hill Common with Charlotte and Robyn for an exciting winter accessory obstacle course. The children ran from station to station putting on their snood, hats and gloves before racing to the finish line. Tensions were high and the air was full of their friends and teachers cheering them on!

This has also been a great chance to experiment with fabric and work on building the children’s strength and dexterity. In the middle of the week the little ones did some gorgeous stencil mud printing with Caitlin. They were so engaged, carefully pressing the mud and dabbing it into the white space, then peeling back the stencil and marvelling at the result. The wonderful Lucia also captured their imagination using fabric in a collaborative collage. The children picked out shapes and arranged them together in patterns, adding paint for the final touch.

And of course, the whizz bang of fireworks has been in the air and on the tip of our tongues as the children have shared their experiences of Bonfire Night. We love these moments of connection and how it brings new children together. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to light up our forest with firework crafts of our very own. The children used repurposed toilet rolls to create some firework magic. Remember, remember the 5th of November!
