The spooky season is well under way here at Little Forest Folk Fulham where we have filled Fulham camp with lots of spook-tacular activities this week!
This has been half term for our sessional children, so our full timers have had an exciting time meeting all the holiday campers who have come to visit. This week has been full of laughter, joyful energy and new friendships 🎃
This week’s overarching theme was of course… Halloween! 🕸️ We brought out pumpkins, and our Little Forest Folk-ers enjoyed using their hands to gut the pumpkin of its contents. We explored textures and used new describing words to explain what the inside of the pumpkin felt like. “Squelchy”, “Slippery”! An educator then punctured holes around the face of the pumpkin. Children could push natural resources into these holes to give Mr Pumpkin facial features! Soon, Mr Pumpkin had a pair of pine-cone eyes, a stone for a nose and a row of pumpkin seeds for a menacing grin! What a spooky set of gnashers! 🦷
Educators created a wonderful winding spider web with rope, which prompted the children to discuss all kinds of creepy crawlies! We decided to create some 8-legged friends of our own using pinecones and pipe-cleaners. Our creative adventurers chose their favourite pinecone and wrapped a black pipe cleaner around it. They then bent and moulded the excess ends into the perfect crawly spiders’ legs. We then glued on a pair of beady eyes and we had created the spookiest little spiders! The children then attached their creations to the spider web…and a spooky spider family was created!🕷️
We can’t wait for more spooky forest fun next week!👻
