Fulham - Music, Maths & Mindful Movements

The Fulham Palace visitors must have wondered what was happening in our forest this week as Jo the Music Man, together with the children, filled our forest with wonderful melodies. With his help, the children and our holiday campers got to play notes on the trombone, the guitar and ukulele! After a lot of huff and puff to get the trombone to make noises the children were then treated to versions of their favourite Disney and TV theme tunes while they played along with their bells.

There have been lots of adventure walks around the gardens this week as the children have found, discussed, and collected a wide range of natural resources to bring back to site and make a collage of a giant pumpkin! This also led to the children talking about their own experiences of pumpkin growing/picking or carving that they have shared with their families and it has been wonderful to listen to them sharing these memories with their friends.

We noticed this week how maths was organically embedded in the small world play as children have added and subtracted wooden people and have shown an interest in keeping a record of the number of people in the house on paper. We may have some future Census analysts in the making!

We have also enjoyed some wonderful mindful movement this week with lots of stretching our bodies and relaxing our minds as we lay and listen to the sounds of Autumn all around us.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and a massive thank you to all the holiday campers who joined us and helped us all have such a fun week!
