Fulham - giant spider-sized web

A giant spider must have come to visit our site during the week because when we arrived at camp there was a giant spider-sized web in the nest! It was incredibly popular, and the children played with it throughout the day, bouncing, clambering and swinging from its silky spider ropes.

A lovely house was built on the Robins side using pallets, logs, planks and pieces of tarpaulin to create the perfect home. One child found a small stone with a sharp-looking edge, designated an area to be the kitchen and started carefully chopping up fruit to give his friends a snack. They grouped together to decorate their home with chalk drawings and used glue to attach scraps of decorative paper and leaves. They were very proud of it and their play revolved around it for the whole day. They built ladders with sticks and rope and used bright coloured tape to transform sticks into magic wands.

There has been a lot of talk of iPads and each child found themselves large pieces of bark to pretend to show each other their favourite videos!

It was Shakespeare week this week and the children played with theatre stages created in camp and Florence ran an activity to create boats using bark, sticks, clay and leaves while telling them about The Tempest.

Next week we are wanting to talk a little more about spring and about our friends the bees. We have bought some seeds and compost and wondered if the children could bring in a tub from the recycling so they can take their planted seeds home with them? Something like a margarine tub or a plastic tray or yogurt pot would do fine!

We cannot wait to do some planting next week and we hope you all have wonderful weekends!
