Fulham - Fun-In-The-Sun!

This week we have been absolutely blessed by the glorious sunshine. We have ensured there’s been plenty of sun cream applications and changes into shorts/sun caps when it’s been particularly bright We have also had the paddling pool back out for the first time this year, a great indicator of the start of months full of fun-in-the-sun!️

The sunny weather means we can get up to a lot more water-play fun, as it helps us stay cool and keeps our temperatures regulated. We froze blocks of ice which held a fun secret inside - toy animals! The children were tasked with helping the ice to melt to help rescue the creatures. They used spray bottles to spray tepid water into the frozen blocks to make the process quicker, using great fine motor strength to squeeze the bottles.

One thing is for shore, spring was o-fish-ally here in the forest on Wednesday! The weather was shrimp-ly amazing, and we took full advantage of it. We had an adventure picnic (during snack time) which saw us enjoying a shady snack in the walled garden. It was all very so-fish-ticated. We had a whale of a time… speaking of whales… all of our activities were based on a classic book- The and The ! Activities included a rock-inspired light house look out, a whale themed climbing frame and drawing snails! A great day in the forest…. I mean, I would say in the ‘kelp forest’ , but I don’t want to be too pacific.

We’ve had lots of sensory play this week, with a few sessions of play-doh making and moulding. Earlier this week we created colour mixing play doh tuft trays, where we accidentally made some play-doh extra sloppy by mistake. But what a wonderful mishap, and we had some messy goodness to create mark making designs in with our fingers. We placed some colourful paint in blobs and explored colour mixing too Later in the week we had a more successful play-doh session, where we rolled, bent and moulded it into a cinnamon roll, we used real cinnamon powder and had a great sensory experience – it smelt just like a bakery
