Fulham - dragon dens, hotels and speedy cars!

Wow this week has been incredible! Our Little Forest Folk-ers had a music session with all sorts of melodies, rhythms and great entertainment. Taking turns to experience the different instruments, the children practiced their tunes singing songs they know all too well!

Ben’s amazing structures have become one of the major attractions in our forest. The children absolutely love to play in the pallet area and transform the structures as their imaginative play strives. We had massive ships, dragon dens, hotels and speedy cars!

Florence kindly brought some bottles, containers and tupperwares, which she emptied and cleaned. Florence also had a bag with special ingredients to fill them up and make shakers! The children gathered around her and immediately knew what they needed to do. Hand by hand, they selected what they wanted to put inside - lentils, beans, pasta, even some precious coins! They had such a wonderful time listening to the sounds as they were shaking happily around our forest.

Some of our adventurers wanted to have a sports day this week. We all went to the walled garden and the children waited for the “ready, steady, go!”, then off they went running back and forth, navigating their space, adjusting speed and direction trying to avoid bumping into each other! It was inevitable, some fell on the ground, and they lost themselves in laughter and joy! Now we couldn’t have a sports day without medals! When they finish racing, one by one they got their very own special gold medal!

Mark making has been very popular this week as well. The children love sitting on the ground and spend their time absorbed in that moment. Some drew letters, some numbers and some drew shapes. All in a colourful, calm and artistic way.

It is always exciting when the tree surgeons visit Fulham Palace, and this week they had to cut one of trees which had its roots damaging the gardener’s cottage. Our children’s inquisitive nature in regard to everything around them, was demonstrated when they started to ask Pete questions about what was happening. The children saw the tree surgeon use a saw to cut the branches first. For a minute, time stopped! They held their breath and watched in awe as the branch hit the ground! Then they saw them put the big branches in a shredder. It was loud and the noise resonated across the forest! It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to show our children events such as this, where they learn why the tree needed to be cut, and how to cut it in a save way.

Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been playing so well together, showing kindness, sharing resources and including others in their play. The forest is such a wonderful environment to see them flourish and has amazing opportunities to always extend their learning!

Enjoy your weekend adventuring!
