Fulham - Christmas Cheer!

🎄 Christmas cheer has most certainly arrived at Fulham!

Around Christmas time we feel particularly blessed to have our camp in the heart of Fulham Palace, which becomes a Christmas wonderland for us all to enjoy. Our days have turned crisp and icy in the morning, where children have been in awe of the frozen fountain and pond. We’ve safely broken off chunks of ice and dropped them to the ground, as children shouted in excitement as the glittery droplets smashed and danced!

We’ve taken shelter from the chilly mornings with the occasional walk around the palace halls - which to the children’s surprise have each been fit with their very own Christmas trees! Children loved exploring each rooms decorations and observing how each tree had a different theme - some covered with love heart shaped decorations or others full of lifelike birds! The Christmas magic continued when a Museum Volunteer showed us that one seemingly normal bookcase, actually opened into a secret door - we were all amazed! Maybe that’s where Santa sleeps! 🎅

We were very inspired by a festive themed post-box we saw inside the palace, which had a prompt for us to write/draw letters and pictures to Santa Claus, telling him about our Christmas wishes and festive thoughts. We discussed what we were exited about for Christmas, gifts, spending time with family and yummy food, and got to writing our notes. Children drew pictures of bikes, scooters and dinosaur toys and we wrote their spoken messages to Santa. Children folded their paper into quarters and put them into small envelopes. We headed back to the post box and children posted their letters one by one. Off to the North-Pole! ⛄️

The Light Festival has been in full swing, where children have enjoyed watching the set-up progress happening each day. Each adventure walk this week has been met with a new glittery animal or shiny display. Children have spotted animal friends, imagery from their favourite literature classics and of course many Christmas related imagery!
