Our Fulham forest week has been dedicated to number recognition and counting! To promote this, lots of great activities have been made and prepared for the children to enable, as usual, the most amazing learning experiences.
At the beginning of the week our Little Forest Folk-ers loved the idea of having some number games on camp, ranging from number dominoes to snakes and ladders. We also had a great focus activity where everyone had the chance to make some number tally charts on various subjects, such as our favourite fruits and colours. These activities really had our children working on developing their abilities to count and recognise numbers.
One of the days in camp, our little explorers engaged in the greatest roleplay as we created a doctors/dentist surgery in camp and put on the costumes to transform into little surgeons who busied themselves taking our temperatures, making us better and checking our teeth.
Some of our children this week have also been working on letter formation. Using our individual name sheets and white board pens we practiced copying and forming the letters of our name and then attempting at the end to individually write it by ourselves, and everyone did an amazing job at doing so!
Towards the end of the week, to promote and celebrate Burns Night - a Scottish celebration to remember and celebrate Scottish traditions - we worked super hard creating little haggis pom-pom decorations and created a Scotland-themed sensory tray which our children really enjoyed getting stuck into.
Our week has been nothing short of amazing and we can’t wait to see what exciting learning opportunities we will have in the forest next week!
