Beginning of term at Fulham
This week was rather short but super exciting! We welcomed back our Little Forest Folk-ers that have been exploring the world on holiday and we welcomed some new children coming for the first time to our nursery. Our team at Fulham is so happy to see everyone again and delighted with the new starters!
The children have been exploring the setting, taking their time to get to know their educators, playing with their peers and mostly, having fun! As you may all know, we are passionate about nature and it is heart-warming to see that the younger children are already showing so much interest and love for nature. Our little explorers have enjoyed finding which animals they can see in the forest, which plants and trees they see around them and they spend lengths of time taking it all in.
Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been focusing on sensory play this week, playing in the mud kitchen, experimenting with water, mud, soil, making bubbles using soap and water and blowing them “up up up into the air”! Already we have noticed that the children absolutely love playing with water and they are not afraid of getting wet and muddy! They used cups, spoons, buckets and bowls to carry water to the shop where they can make magic potions, prepare their food at the restaurant, or bake cakes and pancakes for breakfast.
Another activity that was very popular, was playing with the musical instruments. Exploring the sounds of the xylophone, shaking the maracas and doing silly dances on the stage was wonderful! Some children start to learn that taking turns can be challenging sometimes, or having to wait for their turn might seem hard, but with a little help from our amazing educators they begin to understand and use their word to express their feelings and emotions.
The construction site is always a surprise in the morning when the children arrive on camp. One day we may have a pirate ship made with pallets, long branches and ropes, another day we may have the most spectacular digger! These fantastic creations are built by our amazing educator Ben, with a huge help from the children! Collecting materials for the construction is so exciting, but what the children really like, is to make whichever construction it might be, their own. They are incredible at using their creativity to transform and adapt any setting into their imaginative play! So, we might start with a train, but throughout the day it could become a bus, or an office, or even a rocket ship! We never know and isn’t that exciting?
Next week, we will welcome the lovely Emily, our new Deputy Manager. We are so thrilled to have her and we cannot wait for you all to meet her on Monday!
Have a fantastic weekend!
