We feel like we’ve had a taste of every weather possible this week! Hot sunshine and heavy downpours to make some gloriously sticky mud to play with and then lovely strong winds to blow all our cobwebs away!
Harriet ran a focus activity, providing any children who wanted to join in with protective gloves before showing them how to use sandpaper to smooth off the edges of some off cut wooden shapes. They worked together to smooth them all down, talking about their hard work and comparing their pieces to those of their friends. Once the shapes were finished some children wanted to extend it so they set to work on our benches too!
The logs from the circle were treated to an upgrade from the children where they painted them beautiful colours and patterns. What started off as one child’s idea soon spread to involve several friends, working together to share resources and complimenting each other’s work. Circle time is so much prettier now!
Bakeries and ice cream shops have featured heavily again this week with huge orders been taken and produced by the kitchen team. "52 cupcakes?? We’re going to have to call in extra chefs!” It wasn’t redirected to humans either with one person working to make dinosaur food as well.
Our new starters have settled fantastically and are starting to explore the camp and we’ve seen beautiful moments of kindness and leadership as older children help and explain to their young friends how things work. The younger ones, in turn, explore and experiment with climbing and balancing as they observe and copy what they see their older friends do.
We can’t wait to see what our last week of holiday brings before we swing back into the new term!
