What a chilly start to December in the forest, with the winter breeze greeting our faces and making our Little Forest Folk-ers' cheeks pink and rosy in the cold winter air. Our frosty week was filled with much creativity and fun. We had lots of magical Christmas-themed activities for everyone to enjoy!
🎄 Christmas tree 🎄
Our Little Forest Folk-ers’ decorated a Christmas tree using cardboard and a range of colourful lentils, rice and coconut. The children explored these amazing food resources using all their senses, absorbing and getting involved using their fine motor skills to pick up and inspect the items before decorating the tree until it was full, colourful, and magical!
❄️ Snowflakes ❄️
The children also enjoyed getting their hands messy and creating intricate patterns of flour to design an array of magical snowflakes. They used their fingers and sticks to creatively draw lines and different shapes to form some beautiful snowflake patterns.
🍪 Wooden Cookie Baubles 🍪
A fantastic addition to your Christmas tree, we created some amazing decorations for our trees at home. Our little creators used pom poms and lentils to create the most delightful baubles to adorn our trees with.
🌿 Holly T-shirt’s 🌿
Some lovely additions which we think are just as good as Christmas jumpers. Our little explorers created an array of red and green T-shirts to take home.
🌟 Christmas Box and Stars 🌟
An enchanting Christmas box filled with stars graced our forest during the week. The magical stars adorned numbers and dots and were hung around the forest for our Little Forest Folk-ers to find, but only when they answered the Christmas number questions correctly! They had to search for various natural resources throughout the forest and scavenge for a certain number of leaves and sticks using all their senses to observe the forest around them.
✨ Christmas Lights ✨
Can you switch on the Christmas lights? Our little experimenters thought critically about where to 'place' their lightbulbs and 'switch' them on using paint and wooden corks to stamp the bulbs in place! Creating a colourful and bright array of Christmas lights.
🍎🥛Delicious Snacks 🍎🥛
Let’s not forget that we have been keeping our bellies full and warm with our tasty healthy treats of fruit, cookies and warm milk with cinnamon! It is by far some of our little explorers’ favourite part of the day, as we look forward to gorging on delicious treats at intervals between all of our forest activities!
Wishing you a fantastic weekend and an even greater week to come!
