We can’t believe that it’s the middle of July already and that we had to say goodbye to some of our friends who are leaving us to start a new adventure at big school. We wanted to make sure our friends have the best send off, so we had a leaving party in the woods for all of them. To celebrate each of our friend we held a mini ‘graduation’ ceremony to summarise their time with us and reminisce about all of the lovely moments in the forest. We are so proud of all the children that are leaving us, their resilience, perseverance, creativity and kindness is truly admirable, and we will miss their presence dearly. Although they will be leaving us and some of their playmates, we are very excited for their new adventures and are looking forward to the times when they visit us during holiday camps. Best of luck to all of you!
We had another reason to feel emotional this week as our lovely parents have created an incredible school yearbook that we absolutely loved and will keep on looking at whenever we miss or think about our forest friends. To all of the parents that contributed to this wonderful idea - thank you, you made some of the educators cry with joy. We will cherish those little gifts forever.
Apart from celebrating our dear friends and the end of term, we had a very relaxed and creative week. Some of our friends continued to work on their forest flags and a few of us made ‘walking sticks’ found on our adventure walks. With the use of various materials such as ribbons, tape, feathers and string we turned ordinary sticks into a work of art. We were impressed with some scissor-handling skills and watched with awe how some children disappeared into the world of creativity when making their sticks.
This week we visited the local allotment a few times to see how the gardens have changed and what else has grown since the last time we visited. We found some apples, beautiful sunflowers and celeriac - we though it looked like an alien! We often find those visits really inspiring. Watching the bees at work, seeing the fruit and vegetables change their colours and shapes each week makes us realise the passing of time and difference in seasons but also how much work is happening in nature around us. Visiting the allotment often makes us very hungry and we ended up chatting about our favourite vegetables and fruit and how we could grow them.
We wish you a very lovely weekend and for those that will leave us for the summer we wish you all the best! If you are going away for the holiday, we wish you days filled with sunshine and bliss! Stay wild!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
