Chiswick - Shadow Painting!

🌳 This week at Little Forest Folk, our little adventurers had a fantastic time using tools and bamboo to craft their very own stick men! The children were so attentive as they listened carefully to instructions and learned how to use the tools responsibly. It was amazing to see how focused and careful they were, ensuring safety while letting their creativity shine. The stick men they created were unique and full of character! 🌳

β˜€οΈ In another exciting activity, the children dove into the world of nature art, drawing inspiration from the famous artist Andy Goldsworthy. With colourful sycamore and rhododendron leaves, they designed beautiful β€˜sunshine’ patterns that brightened up our day. We explored the different shapes, colours and textures of the leaves, talking about how nature's patterns can inspire art. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to express themselves and connect with the natural world around them. β˜€οΈ

🍁 We also spent some time learning about light and shadows. Our little explorers hung up different types of leaves on a washing line and used the shadows they cast to paint their shapes. They were fascinated as we talked about how the leaves blocked the sunlight, creating beautiful shadows on the paper. It was a great way for them to explore how light works and see art in nature. 🍁

πŸ› The children rolled up their sleeves to build a bug hotel for our mini-beast friends. We had great conversations about the different creatures that live in our forest, including slugs, worms, woodlice, and millipedes. Using natural materials, our Little Forest Folk-ers created a three-floor bug hotel, giving these tiny critters plenty of space to relax and enjoy. It was wonderful to see the children working together to create a cozy habitat for our forest creatures.πŸ›

πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈIn celebration of the Olympic Games, the children got creative and made their very own Olympic torch! They decorated it with bright yellow leaves to represent the fire. We had some lively discussions about all the sports they’ve seen so far. Gymnastics, swimming, and skateboarding were some of our favourites! The children even showed off their own gymnastic skills by jumping off platforms onto soft ground. We wrapped up with a few friendly races, each of us representing a different country. πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

πŸ¦† Of course, we also enjoyed several nature walks around the gardens, making sure to visit our favourite spots like the steep bridge and the pond. We waved hello to all the ducks and swans and even took a trip to the playground this week. Everyone had a blast playing in the sandpit and using the climbing frame. We even got a chance to play on the swing together, waiting patiently and taking turns. πŸ¦†

We’ve had another fantastic week in the forest. Our little explorers continue to have their own adventures and make new discoveries every day. We hope to see you again next week for more nature filled fun. πŸ‘‹
