Chiswick - Mini chefs and masterpieces

Mini chefs and masterpieces

Another week has flown by, the sun has shone, the clouds have opened, and the wind has blown. We have had a little bit of everything in the forest and taking it in our stride, we had so much fun!

It’s duckling season at Chiswick House and Gardens and we have had cuteness coming out of our ears! Coots, moorhens, tufted ducks and mallards have all hatched adorable bundles of fluff. Our adventurers love watching them swim and waddle about. Our Little Forest Folk-ers have used their eagle eyes to also spot; blue dragonflies, huge goldfish and a terrapin in disguise.

Chiswick had the pleasure of hosting Twickenham’s lovely Xiao again this week. He blew our adventurers (and educators) away with EVERY story Disney has ever produced. Entranced and impressed, we all listened to his every breath.

We have learned something new every day this week. Chiswick’s educators prepared a multitude of exciting activities for the children to participate in. We tried our hand at stringing together pasta pieces to turn into necklaces. Our Little Forest Folk-ers also made telescopes and binoculars out of cardboard tubes and, after decorating, they went on a leaf and mini-beast hunt! They were able to search our lovely camp for worms, beetles and spiders too!! Our Holiday Campers made nets for dice and rolled them around the forest!

The activity that enchanted both Holiday Campers and Little Forest Folk-ers alike, was Courtney’s natural painting activity. All the children loved getting messy and mixing raspberries, blueberries, paprika, cinnamon, chocolate powder and tea together to make a multitude of colours to paint with. We all got VERY sticky but created masterpieces that not only looked good but were sweet smelling too!
