This week we embarked on an exciting journey celebrating Lunar New Year! With the Year of the Dragon upon us, our little adventurers dove into the festivities with enthusiasm and joy.
We started our week by delving into the tale of the Great Race, discovering the importance of kindness and helpfulness. We discussed how the rat's actions affected the cat and pondered upon the qualities of good friendship.
With brushes and paints in hand, our young artists brought a huge dragon to life in vibrant red and yellow hues. The children's creativity soared as they experimented with circle-shaped objects for stamping and printing, creating a fiery masterpiece reminiscent of the dragon's breath.
In honour of Lunar New Year traditions, we learned about moon cakes and their significance. Our forest was adorned with lanterns, meticulously decorated with orange and red squares, counting and making patterns with patience and diligence. Red fans were carefully crafted, each fold a symbol of the joyous celebrations. But the festivities didn't end there! In the mud kitchen, our little chefs worked tirelessly to create delicious noodle soup, a perfect complement to our Lunar New Year feast.
Amidst the Lunar New Year celebrations, the children also explored the art of felting. From nature-inspired landscapes to galaxies and planets, their creations were bursting with vibrant colours. Together, they collaborated to choose the perfect colours for trees, skies, and suns, weaving their imaginations into beautiful felted pictures.
As we bid farewell to this week's celebrations, we carry with us the spirit of kindness, friendship, and creativity that embodies the Lunar New Year.
Wishing you all a prosperous and joyful year ahead!
