Chiswick - Gratitude tree

“If you take care of your mind, you take care of your world”- Arianna Huffington.

This week has brought awareness to children’s mental health. Our Little Forest Folk-ers learnt about the importance of self-affirmations, glanced at their reflections, and spoke about the things they admire about themselves, their beauty, their strength, their hair, their happiness and discussed things we do that bring us joy. Our activities introduced the children to meditation, which went down like a treat.

In our arts and crafts corner, we created a ‘Gratitude tree’ on a paper plate, asking the children what/who they are thankful for.

In the mud kitchen we had a tea party making mud cakes and even drew the party food onto paper plates using colouring pens. Some of our friends even made tree cakes using a saw!

Littering was a big theme this week! All week when we went on our adventure walks, we talked about all the different packaging, such as plastic and cardboard and why if left on the ground, it can affect many circles of life - including ours! Also exploring and identifying the fascinating fungi life such as Kind Alfred’s cake and Scarlet Elf Cup mushrooms.

Of course, we have been super-duper active, as it is the Winter Olympics! Our categories including ‘tree climbing’, ‘log jumping’, ‘stick sword fighting’ and even ‘skiing’.

Another week full of smiles. We hope you all have lovely weekends!
